Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami pays homage to Syed Ali Gilani

Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has paid rich tributes to senior Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani, reiterating the Kashmiri people’s resolve to carry out the martyred leader’s mission at any cost.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami (TWI) spokesman strongly condemned the occupying regime’s inhuman and unjust action of forcibly taking the body of Syed Ali Gilani and burying him in the dead of night at Hyderpora graveyard after allowing only small number of his close relatives to attend his funeral.

He said that Syed Ali Gilani was kept under house arrest by the Indian authorities for more than a decade due to which his health condition deteriorated day by day and thus pushing him to the brink of death in a planned manner. The spokesman said that the martyred leader had been fighting against India’s illegal occupation all his life for which he was kept in Indian jails and detention centers for almost 12 years.

He said that Syed Ali Gilani was a passionate advocate of Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan and he stood firm on this stance all his life.

The TWI spokesman maintained that India cannot extinguish the spark of freedom lit in the hearts of the Kashmiri people with its guns and bullets, adding that although it was very difficult to replace someone of the stature of Syed Ali Gilani but the Kashmiris’ struggle would continue till freedom from the Indian yoke.
