Vice Chairman Tehreek-e-istiqlal Mushtaq Ahmed Butt |
Tehreek-e-Istiqlal Vice Chairman Mushtaq Ahmed Butt has paid rich tributes to the zealous people of Jammu and Kashmir Valley who have endured the oppression of Indian imperialism for decades – in the Valley where various tactics have been used to sabotage the independence movement. The Indian occupying forces used to make a few immoral incidents a part of our known history.
Mushtaq Ahmed Butt said in his written statement that “the Kashmiri people have made every sacrifice to defeat the forces of falsehood – even the loss of our lives and property and the loss of our honor.” “On the night between February 22 and 23, 1991, in two villages of Kupwara district, Kunan and Poshpura, Indian forces collectively humiliated tens of women and, despite decades of deportation, our mothers and daughters are still in exile for justice.
Abdul Hameed, general secretary of Tehreek-e-Istiqlal, strongly condemned the incident in Kunan and Poshpura, calling it a “funeral of Indian democracy”. The action was taken merely to weaken the movement, he added, adding that “such incidents have always been government-sponsored in Kashmir and the decades-long delay in getting justice is clear evidence of this.”
At the same time, there are numerous instances around the valley where the occupying forces have used “toying with the dignity of women” as a weapon of war in order to legitimize the movement in Jammu and Kashmir. “A few days ago, lustful Indian soldiers molested an innocent girl in Bandipora. The girl’s family was threatened after the FIR was lodged,” he added.
The two leaders appealed to the international community to take note of the human rights violations that Indian imperialism is perpetuating in Kashmir in its unconstitutional, undemocratic and immoral manner and to find a lasting solution to this problem involving millions of people.
