Tehreek- e- Istiqlaal, pays rich tributes to Shaheed Afzal Guru on his 8th Martyrdom.
Vice- Chairman of Tehreek- e- Istiqlaal, Jammu and Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, in his statement issued to the press paid rich tributes to Shaheed Afzal Guru on his 8th Martyrdom. Shaheed Afzal Guru was sent to gallows in notorious Tihar jail of India on 9th February, 2013. Mushtaq Ahmad said, “Shaheed Afzal Guru was martyred by India to prolong their power politics but this proved to be last nail in there Coffin.” “This is one of the worst part of Indian democracy which will be termed as a dark chapter by future historians”, he added.
General Secretary of Tehreek- e- Istiqlaal, Abdul Hameed has termed martyrdom of Shaheed Afzal Guru as a death of an innocent person. He said, “Afzal Guru was sent to gallows to satisfy the collective conscience of Indian people”. ” Through a media trial, an environment was created against Shaheed Afzal Guru, that finally led to his extra- judicial murder,” he added.
Both leaders of Tehreek- e- Istiqlaal in this joint statement appealed international human rights organisations to use their good offices to help family of Shaheed Afzal Guru to get his mortal remains that are still lying within four walls of infamous Tihar jail. They said “pious blood of our martyrs will not go waste and we will follow their footprints and no stone will be left unturned to reach logical end of our great struggle.” “We will keep moving till we reach our long cherished goal ,” they added.
