Rally staged on martyrdom anniversaries of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat

A rally was organized under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir to pay tribute to the great Kashmiri Liberation Front leaders martyrs Mohammad Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Butt here on Tuesday.

People in the protest paid homage to the martyrs for their great sacrifices.

According to details, rally was organized on the appeal of Hurriyat Leader Syed Ali Shah Gillani to pay homage to Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed.

Large number of people in the rally were chanting slogans for freedom from Indian occupation.

Protesters were holding banners stated tributary phrases for martyrs of Kashmir and insulting phrases against India’s oppressive judiciary.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmad Ghazali has said that on February 9, 2013, Mohammad Afzal Guru and on February 11, 1984, Mohammad Maqbool Butt were hanged in the Tihar Jail of Delhi by the biased judiciary of India through cruel decisions based on stubbornness and hatred.

He maintained that Indian judges, while handing down the death sentence to Kashmiri youth Muhammad Afzal Guru, had admitted that there was no such evidence but the accused should be hanged to keep the Indian public satisfied.

He further said that history has shown that the decisions of the Indian judiciary towards the Kashmiri people have always been against principles, facts and human values.

“The bodies of these Kashmiri martyrs were also buried in Tihar Jail while their heirs had been demanding return of the bodies for many years” he added.

Vice Chairman International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Mushtaq-ul-Islam, PPP leaders Shaukat Javed, Usman Ali Hashim, Muhammad Aimal Farzam and other speakers said that Indian military siege and occupation forces’ terrorism continues inside the disputed state under the guise of fake democracy.

“The oppressive Indian government and the biased judiciary have always imposed ruthless and wrong decisions against Kashmiris; even today, youths are being martyred in fake military encounters and buried far away from their native areas” they added.

The speakers called on international human rights organizations to stop India from committing all forms of terrorism in the disputed state.

Rally participants marched from Afzal Guru Chowk to Srinagar Highway to seek International community attention.
