In a statement issued to the press, the spokesperson of the Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir appealed to the people to go on a full-scale strike on the arrival of a 20-member EU delegation in Kashmir. He said that in order to break the reports of Indian state terrorism at the international level, people should be met within the state and they should compile the report as per the wishes of India. Human rights abuses are rampant in Kashmir and the worst human rights situation is in Jammu and Kashmir.
Thousands of people are languishing in jails, including women, children, old and young, where their condition is unsatisfactory. The Muslim League urges the EU delegation and human rights organizations to meet the various stakeholders from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the leadership of the Hurriyat Conference and the Bar Association, and the current situation in Kashmir. A factual report on the situation could be compiled according to the wishes of the Kashmiris. The spokesman said that the Kashmir issue is a recognized international issue and therefore the basic principle of human rights should be fulfilled by giving the people the basic right to self-determination.
He appealed for a complete strike from all sections of the society except the traders and transporters so that it would be clear to the world that the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir would not agree to take any position without the right to self-determination.
