Father of Youth killed in Srinagar encounter booked under UAPA

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has booked seven people, including the father and family members of the minor who was killed in a “gunfight” in Srinagar on 30 December 2020, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for “organizing illegal processions under criminal conspiracy”.
Ather Mushtaq 11th grade student was killed along with other 2 students in Lawaypora area of Srinagar-summer capital of erstwhile Indian occupied Kashmir. his father along with other family members have protested in press enclave Srinagar demanding body of slain youth which police claimed to be hardcore militants the allegation family rejects.
Ather Mushtaq along with 2 associates were laid down to rest in Sonmarg- hundreds of kilometers away from home.
The seven people named by the police include Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, father of Ather Mushtaq, the teenager killed in the Srinagar “gunfight”. It also names Athar’s two uncles Mohammad Shafi Wani and Mohammad Hussain Wani. The other four people named are Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Sultan, Jalaludin Wani son of Mohammad Sultan, Ruba Mir son of Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir son of Ama Mir.
