APHC AJK call for implementation on UN resolution on Kashmir

Kotli: Speakers at a seminar called for the implementation of United Nations resolutions that would allow the Kashmiri people to determine their future.

The seminar, titled “Empowering Youth: Paving the Path to Right to Self-Determination for Jammu and Kashmir,” was organized by the University of Kotli, AJK, in collaboration with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter. A large number of students attended the event.

The seminar was chaired by Vice Chancellor of the University of Kotli, Rahmat Ali Khan. The Chief Guest at the event was Chaudhry Amir Yaseen, the Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Speakers at the event discussed the role of youth, the resolution of the Kashmir issue, and India’s oppressive policies in detail.

Secretary General of APHC-AJK, Advocate Parvez Ahmed, emphasized that the All Parties Hurriyat Conference seeks a complete solution to the Kashmir issue, a stance strongly supported by the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Professor Shagufta Ashraf pointed out that the Kashmir issue has remained on the UN agenda for the last 76 years. However, due to India’s obstinacy, millions of Kashmiris have lost their lives. She urged India to respect the UN resolutions and its own leadership’s promises, granting the Kashmiri people the right to self-determination at the earliest in order to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.

Hurriyat leader Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal stated that Pakistan is the most important party in the Kashmir issue and that it can be resolved through the implementation of UN resolutions and trilateral negotiations. Mohammad Shafi Dar, a leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, emphasized that Kashmir’s freedom cannot be achieved without Pakistan’s political, diplomatic, and moral support. He expressed confidence that, together with Pakistan, goals could be achieved and India’s conspiracies thwarted.

Abdul Hamid Lone urged students to expose India’s ongoing atrocities in IIOJK to the world. Chaudhry Amir Yaseen and Nabeela Ayub expressed that the government of Azad Kashmir stands firmly with the freedom movement and is prepared to go to any lengths to protect the rights of the Kashmiri people.

VC of Kotli University Rahmat Ali Khan thanked the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other distinguished guests, highlighting the unique significance of the seminar held at Kotli University. He encouraged APHC-AJK to organize similar seminars in other universities and colleges to raise awareness among youth about the true situation in IIOJK and to effectively counter India’s negative propaganda.
