Chota Bazaar Massacre Anniversary
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a seminar at its office in Islamabad to pay homage to the martyrs of Chota Bazaar, Srinagar, on their martyrdom anniversary.
On June 11 in 1991, after an alleged clash with some unknown attackers at Zainakadal in the city, Indian troops had resorted to indiscriminate firing all the way from their camp at Syed Mansoor to Chotta Bazaar in the densely populated downtown area of Srinagar.
At least 32 innocent Kashmiris were martyred and 22 others were injured in the brutal action of the troops.
The seminar was presided over by the APHC-AJK convenor, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar.
Addressing the event on the occasion, former Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Amir Abdul Rashid Turabi strongly condemned genocide of Kashmiris, destruction of their properties and harassment of women and children during raids on their houses by the occupation troops.
Other speakers on the occasion also deplored that Indian troops have made the life of the people of IIOJK miserable. They said that the troops were snatching the life of innocent Kashmiris and the killing spree was going on unabated.
They said by killing innocent youth, India cannot suppress the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people. They said the unrelenting military siege and corona lock-down have aggravated the humanitarian crisis in the occupied territory. They said that India must realize the fact that the delay in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute was leading New Delhi to destruction.
At the end, special prayers were offered for the martyrs of Chhota Bazar and other Kashmiri martyrs. Others who spoke on the occasion included Muhammad Farooq Rahman, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mir Tahir Masood, Sheikh Abdulmatin, Imtiaz Wani, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Shamim Shawl, Hasan al Bana, Engineer Mahmood, Syed Ejaz Rahmani, Zahid Safi, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Gulshan Ahmed, Kifayat Hussain, Saleem Haroon, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Haji Sultan Butt, Abdul Majeed Lone, Ashraf Bilal, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Javed Iqbal Butt, Dawad Yousafzai, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Qazi Imran, Usman Ahmed and Abdul Shakoor Azad.
