APHC organized seminar in Islamabad Pakistan to commemorate the 30 anniversary of Kunan-Poshpora mass rape incident

APHC organized seminar in Islamabad Pakistan to commemorate the 30 anniversary of Kunan-Poshpora mass rape incident in which at least 50 women were gang raped by Indian occupying forces.

The Theme of the seminar was “Incident of kunan Poshpora and its impacts on Kashmiri women”

Sobia Kamal Khan (MNA) (Federal Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan) was the chief guest of the event.

Different members of All Parties Hurriyet Conference highlighted the gross human rights violations perpetrated by Indian occupying forces in Kashmir valley. The members of APHC further said that Kunan Poshpiora is not a single incident of sexual violence in Kashmir. Indian occupying forces are using rape as a weapon of war in illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir.

Sexual violence is employed in a systemic manner by the occupier and it’s apparatus in Kashmir & Kunan-Poshpora is merely one of the many incidents that have come to light but yet, it is a defining instance in the recent history of Kashmir. It serves as a reminder of the moral bankruptcy of the Indian state, in first sanctioning and committing these sanctions and then going to the greatest of lengths to deny them and covering up for the people perpetrating these atrocities.

Sobia Kamal Khan while expressing deep sorrow on the incident of Kunan Poshpora said it is a black spot on so called world’s largest democracy. She highlighted the role of women in the struggle of Kashmir right of self determination. Women in Kashmir have remained shoulder to shoulder to men who are fighting for the noble cause. Women in Kashmir have given tremendous sacrifices and have carried the legacy of noble freedom movement forward.
