Rejection of Shabir Shah’s bails is judicial terrorism: DFP
The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has termed the rejection of bail of its jailed leader Shabir Shah Sahib as judicial terrorism. In a statement, the party spokesperson said that granting bail is the right of every prisoner and this right is further strengthened when no charges have been proved against a political prisoner like Shabir Shah despite his continuous imprisonment. Since not a single evidence has so far been provided against Shabir Shah, the judiciary should have taken cognizance of it and release Shabir Shah. But on the contrary, the Indian judiciary has repeatedly rejecting Shabir Shah’s bails and in this way, it supports the whims of the investigating agencies.
It is unfortunate that the judiciary does not see the inconvenience caused to Shabir Shah by his continuous imprisonment, but it is believing in the assumptions made by the investigating agencies to please the rulers. Over the years, Shabir Shah has been booked number of times on various charges, but to date no charges have been proved against him. Even today, he has been imprisoned in Delhi’s Tihar Jail for four years for advocating a just solution to the Kashmir dispute and for the same crime he is being deprived of all rights, even proper medical care.
The just forces of the world should take serious note of the rights violations of civilians and political prisoners in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir and take steps to resolve this long-pending political dispute once and for all according to the will of the people so that the rights of the people living here are restored.
