Ban on APHC will have serious repercussions: DFP
While expressing its serious concerns over the Indian government’s nefarious designs to ban APHC, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that any such move would have serious repercussions.
In a statement issued here on Monday the DFP spokesman while reacting to a media report regarding the India’s purported plan to impose sanctions on All Party Hurriyat Conference under the draconian UAPA said that banning political parties and forums was an obvious manifestation of frustration on the part of Indian government that despite turning the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir into a virtual prison has miserably failed to subdue and suppress Kashmiris and their desire for freedom from India’s forcible occupation”.
The move, he said, was yet another attempt to choke every dissenting voice in Kashmir. Terming the APHC as a legitimate political forum the DFP spokesman warned the Indian government that any attempt to ban the world recognized forum, would have serious political ramifications. “The APHC is a world recognized forum that enjoys observer status in the OIC and any attempt to blacklist the amalgam under black laws is tantamount to pushing Kashmiris into a quagmire of violence”, the spokesman added. He said, “Hurriyat Conference is purely a political platform, which was formally invited for a dialogue by the previous government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee”. The APHC, he said, is the forum that represents the Kashmiris aspirations. Indian rulers in the recent past have acknowledged this ground reality by engaging Hurriyat leaders in a dialogue to discuss the way forward to settle the Kashmir dispute. The APHC is a credible political forum which could not be sidelined, silenced or rendered irrelevant by invoking imperialistic laws such as UAPA.
Indian rulers, he said, should acknowledge the fact that these age-old tactics won’t change the reality of the Kashmir problem. Kashmir, he reiterated, was a political issue that needed to be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions, which provide a comprehensive roadmap to settle the dispute peacefully.
“Imposing sanctions on political parties and political activities would serve none but only deepen the crisis in the disputed territory”, the spokesman further added. The DFP spokesman also appealed to the Kashmiri people to remain cautios against the Indian conspiracies and maintain complete unity to thwart Indian nefarious designs.
